The Firemen’s Blue All-Stars started fast Thursday night and never let up, besting the Firemen’s Red All-Stars by a final score of 25-9. Team Blue scored seven runs in the first inning and plated at least one run in every inning, lacing 32 hits compared to 17 for Team Red.
The game was played at Red Haddox Field, a regulation baseball field in Bloomington, Minnesota. Despite the bases being 90 feet apart and foul-line distances of 341 and 339 feet to left- and right-field, respectively, Team Blue still used up all seven of their allowed home runs. Team Red belted four long balls.
Most Valuable Player honors went to Team Blue’s Cody Olson. In six trips to the plate the 20-year old collected four singles and a walk. He also scored three runs and recorded a team-high seven putouts.
